The Prez Can Jump...Day 8

So today, no policy talk. What I have to talk about today is about something a Senator said about President Obama. They didn't say they hate his stance on economy or his stance on Iraq. No. At and Inauguration Luncheon, Sen. John Ensign challenged President Obama- to a game of two-on-two basketball. He said that himself and Senator John Thune of South Dakota could take the President and any wingman that he wants.

I love it.

I love that now that everyone knows the the President runs the court, that everyone wants to challenge him to a game. I realize that he comes off a bit "nerdy", but let me tell you this, I've seen clips of him playing ball, and the President has game. Plus, he's a lefty, and anyone who's played ball knows that leftys are difficult to guard. Even Stuart Scott and Andy Katz of ESPN said the President took them to school when he played against them after he won the election in November.

Guys, let me tell you something. Ease up on challenging the president to basketball. You don't want the embarassment of the President Obama taking you to the hole. Do you really want to be posterized by the President?

The First 100 Days....Day 2.

Today President Obama made an executive order to close the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay. I think this was a good thing to do because it shows that he is keeping his campaign promises. I do worry about where the prisoners will go once the camp is closed, but I'm sure the administration has a plan in order to maintain justice. Also, today, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs had is "inaugural" daily press briefing, which at first looked like a trial by storm, but in the end, I think he did a good job of handling the questions of the White House Press Corps. Chuck Todd of MSNBC seemed to be a little hard on him at first, but I think he did a good job. I think Gibbs will learn in time to handle these tough questions without making the administration look bad. I was actually a big fan of Ari Fleischer, Bush's first press secretary,  in the way that he answered questions but didn't give away pertinent information. I honestly think Gibbs could learn from some old videos of his moves. Did I really just say that I was a fan of someone from the Bush administration. I must be sick from the cold of Inauguration Day.

C'mon Ride This Train...And Ride It!

I we could, I'm sure we would get on the train and Barack Obama makes his way down to Washington, D.C. Today Barack will jump on Amtrak and make a stop in Wilmington, DE to pick his friend and partner in Change, Joe Biden, and continue on to Chocolate City where his presidency will begin on Tuesday. I found my way down to Inauguration, but I won't be on the train until Sunday. I love the excitedment in the -10 degree windchill air and you must agree that no other president has ever had this much buzz surrounding their inauguration. If there were ever a weekend to be in D.C., it would be this one. See you guys there!

Obama Has Already Been Cleaning George's Mess

President-elect Barack Obama spent his day in Ohio with the working man and continued to address the current economic situation. He did this the same week Congress approved an 825 billion dollar stimulus package. Look, since Barack was elected I feel like he's had to spend most of the time bailing water of the of the sinking ship that is known as Presidetn George W. Bush's presidency. Unfortunately, if the economy doesn't turn around and we continue to lose jobs at the rate that we have been (especially with commerical giants like Circuit City announcing they're going out of business), Barack is going to be unfairly blamed for not reversing the misfortune. I just hope Americans can be patient. The stock market is not going to be 12,000 on Wednesday, January 21st and we're not going to go from 16% unemployment to 1% unemployment overnight. In the words of Gun's N' Roses, it's going to take a little patience....yeah.

Now, back to finding a way to D.C. on Tuesday.

Farewell To George

Tonight, GWB gave his farewell speech, although in my opinion, he cashed in his chips on Nov. 5th. Unlike most of his other speeches, he actually was semi-well spoken and didn't make any of the typical "George Bush Faces". I honestly can't believe that this man ran the United States for just under 1/3 of my life. Unbelievable. Although I must say, I will miss his comedy. I feel the way I felt when I realized that Sarah Palin actually was not going to be in the news anymore. I mean, all the jokes we lost. Now with George out the picture, we'll actually have to "try" for presidential jokes. That's one thing you have to like about this new president. He's going to work to make us be funny. I can't wait. I'm working on my Obama impersonation as we speak.
